Avast is a massive mainstay in the antivirus industry with a powerful malware detection engine and a lot of additional features like ransomware protection, a web fire wall and VPN assistance. Its malware detection score of 6 out of 6 during our tests was excellent and it did an excellent job of blocking access to phishing websites that have slipped through the Chrome and Firefox default security.
In our real-world tests, Avast was able to filter through over two million separate files in a single scan which is impressive considering the program is comparatively light and efficient. Avast did not affect system performance in any way during our speed tests. It did better than its competition that can take more than an hour to scan the same amount of files.

Its view website practices for sharing data are problematic and does not include parental controls or an account manager that can rival Bitdefender Total Security.
