Avast Web Shield actively tests information that is moving through the internet and stops any possible infections in real-time. This shields you from ransomware which locks your files and requires payment in order to unlock them, as well as Trojans, which masquerade as legitimate software, but actually inject malware into your device. Web shield also detects phishing sites which attempt to steal your personal data.
Avira provides multiple settings to change the way that avast Web Shield performs. For example, you can change the sensitivity level, which regulates how much avast’s web shield scans the data when you connect to the internet. You can also turn on and disable HTTPS scanning as well as script scanning, and block botnets. You can also create a list of exclusions to stop certain programs from being detected by the web shield.
If the avast web security detects malware, potentially unwanted program (PUP) or a suspicious files on your computer it will attempt to fix it before you do. If the file is not repaired, it will be moved to Quarantine. You will also receive a notification. You can also choose a default action for avast to take when it detects a virus.
If a website or app that you believe to be safe is blocked by avast you can add it to the list of exceptions so that it won’t be blocked again. You can do this by clicking on the Real-Time Shields Tab and then selecting the Web Shield (or File Shield) option from the list. The Avast Security app and Avast One app have slightly different methods for adding apps or websites to the list of exceptions.
